About

We are deeply committed to long-term relationships and, thus, take the action necessary to do what is right for our clients. This includes listening to your personal goals and offering effective approaches to pursue them. We take the time to address your concerns and provide the education necessary for each customer to be a shrewd manager of their money. We do not offer the same solution to every customer in order to make our jobs easier or more lucrative. At Selah Financial Services, we seek to help our clients find purpose, direction, and meaning.
We fully support Dave Ramsey’s plan for financial freedom. We live it personally and see so many people be more successful because of these principles. We recommend and personally follow his Baby Steps to financial freedom. We regularly counsel our clients to become debt-free and to develop a fully funded emergency fund, as well as to contribute to a retirement program. We consider the client’s entire financial picture, not just the parts that generate income for us. Dave Ramsey is the host of the nationally syndicated radio show, The Dave Ramsey Show, where he offers the same wise advice that our grandparents' generation lived by.

After completing the application process, Dave Ramsey’s group selected Selah Financial as the Endorsed Local Provider® for Investing in the Houston area. This recommendation requires that we continue to have a track record of doing what is best for our customers. We intend to live each day in this manner.
We have the heart of a teacher.
We want you to understand before you invest. We will take the time to explain and to teach. We are honest. If we like the investments you bring to us, we will recommend that you keep them. If we think a change is needed to your current strategy, we will respectfully tell you and fully explain why. If your current strategy is not working for you, we will explain why that might be, even if it requires a tough discussion. We will suggest that you pay off your house, if that is what we think you should do before investing. If we are not the right financial advisor for you, we will tell you that, too, and help you find a better match. Our sense of satisfaction and fulfilled purpose comes from your success. No matter what your level of wealth, working with us can help you pursue your goals.

We are systematic and analytical without being pre-programmed.
We have systems and processes for just about everything, including a process for selecting and managing our investments. We regularly review portfolios. We have a saying, “We'll do your review with you or without you, but we prefer to do it with you.” We are constantly searching for ways to improve our business processes. We'll be happy to discuss our investment selection and management processes with you personally.

We get it.
We are real people with real-life experiences. We have real-life challenges and successes beyond your wildest imaginations. We were consumers of financial services before we were advisors so we know what it is like from both perspectives. We have dealt with the challenges of debt and the abundance of success. We have bought and sold all kinds of products and gained and lost in the markets, too.

We are not for everyone.
We know we are not a good fit for everyone. We really don't do business with people who are not likely to become our friends. If we are not the right fit, we will let you know and help you find the right fit. Life is too short; you need to work with people you love, doing a job that you love, or you need to move on to where you are supposed to be in life.
At Selah Financial Services, we believe in the power of individual choice. After all, it was that same power that founded our firm. Sharon Duncan opened Selah Financial with the vision of creating an approachable, client-centered, ethical atmosphere.
Broadly speaking, we cover all of the elements of a solid financial plan, including:
Investment Management, Retirement Planning, Insurance Review, Estate Review, Taxation Strategies, and Social Security Review.
Selah can help:
Avoid emotional decisions and mistakes
Simplify your finances
Reduce your stress level
Keep more of your hard-earned assets
Stop second-guessing yourself
Support causes that are important to you
