About

Our mission is to meet the simple needs of children, people experiencing homelessness, and others in need, while inspiring our community to do the same.

Simple Needs GA started with one person's mission to meet the simple needs of people experiencing homelessness. Thanks to our amazing donors and volunteers, we have since grown into a community-based, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with several programs, including some focused on the needs of children and families.

Our current efforts include...

• Meeting the simple needs of people experiencing homelessness. Since June 2010, SNGA has delivered thousands of duffel bags filled with full-size toiletries to people living in a Cobb County homeless shelter. We have also supplied tents, sleeping bags, candles and other necessities to hundreds of people living in the woods.

• Making sure children have decent shoes. Do you remember what it was like as a kid to head to school with a new pair of shoes? Far too many children make do with hand-me-downs and never have this uplifting experience. In our new shoe program, SNGA donors buy families gift cards to make sure their kids can enjoy new, well-fitting shoes.

• Supplying families with household necessities. As they struggle to make ends meet, families are often forced to do without basic items that many of us take for granted. Our Simple Household Needs program provides cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, toilet paper and other necessities that can make a big difference in a family's quality of life.

• Helping disadvantaged kids have special birthdays. As some Cobb County families work to make ends meet in a tough economy, they often struggle to give their kids enough birthday fun and recognition. My Birthday Matters, which launches June 8 with an inaugural fundraiser in Marietta, seeks to help by bringing presents, parties and basic necessities to low-income children celebrating their birthdays. The goal is to bring more self-esteem and joy to these children by helping their families make their birthday wishes come true. SNGA donors and volunteers can contribute by providing the children with simple necessities such as underwear, clothes, school supplies and presents from wish lists.
