SkillsUSA Iowa is a statewide organization that prepares students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and engaged community members. As the Iowa affiliate of the national SkillsUSA movement, it serves middle school, high school, and college/postsecondary students who are exploring careers in high-demand fields.
Through hands-on learning, leadership development, industry engagement, and skill-building competitions, SkillsUSA Iowa empowers students to grow into confident and capable individuals. Members can showcase their talents in more than 100 occupational areas—such as construction, advanced manufacturing, health science, information technology, and public safety—through local, state, and national competitive events.
SkillsUSA Iowa partners closely with educators, employers, and community leaders to ensure students are learning the skills most needed in today’s workforce. This connection between classroom instruction and real-world application gives students a powerful head start toward successful careers and helps address Iowa’s workforce needs.
Beyond technical training, SkillsUSA Iowa also emphasizes personal growth, responsibility, and leadership. Members take part in service projects, advocacy, and public speaking experiences that help them develop the confidence, communication, and professionalism needed to thrive in any setting.
