About

South Shore Art Center’s mission is to enrich the communities south of Boston by engaging artists and by fostering an understanding and appreciation of the visual arts through exhibitions and education. Established in 1955 and located in Cohasset, SSAC offers a rotating schedule of art exhibitions in two main galleries and two satellite locations, four terms of professional art courses and workshops in all media for students of all ages and abilities, three arts education outreach programs and cultural events.

Each year thousands of South Shore children and adults attend classes and workshops at SSAC, view and discuss its exhibitions, participate in its educational programs and/or attend its events. During the last school year, over 1,500 South Shore students participated in our arts education outreach programs. A professional faculty, engaging exhibitions, quality arts education outreach programs and our annual Arts Festival on Cohasset Common make SSAC a vital cultural resource for the South Shore.
