Stamford, CT (June 1, 2015)--The Joe Roberts Sr. Music Foundation is proud to announce The Stamford Summer Music Festival on June 13th from 12:00pm to 10:00pm. This celebration of Stamford's rich musical history will take place at Stamford's beautiful Mill River Park. General Admission is $8 for adults; children 5 and under are free.  

The Joe Roberts Sr. Music Foundation was established in the memory of Joe Roberts Sr., founder of Connecticut Music, a local instrument store, dedicated to serving those who love to play, learn and teach music.

Great food will be provided by some the area’s best restaurants, including Columbus Park, Sunny and Frankie’s, the Melt Mobile and more. Wine and beer are will also be available for purchase.

Bring a blanket and be prepared to enjoy the day. There will be activities for children from 12:00 to 4:30, including face painting and bouncy castles. JHype MC and DJ Kunjan will be spinning and hosting all day. There will also be performances from the area’s talented young artists, including the Stamford High School Madrigal Singers, directed by Gloria Sinaguglia, the Westhill High School Chamber Singers, directed by Jon Curri, Curtain Call Inc., as well, a performance from Tommy Ormond .

Following this, alternative rock band Ludlow will be performing their original music. World class jazz drummer Joe Corsello and his band will also perform a jazz set.

The evening showcase titled “The History of Rock” will give audiences the chance to hear the greatest rock music from the 60's through the 90's performed by over 22 of Stamford’s greatest musicians. It will be three hours of the greatest hits from Elvis, The Beatles, The Stones, CCR, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Journey, Bad Co., Heart, U2, Bon Jovi, Guns n’ Roses, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and many more.

Proceeds from the event will help to fund The Palace Academy, a new, year-round music learning program at The Palace Theatre that features teaching artists and instruments provided by The Joe Roberts Sr. Music Foundation.
