About

Tasveer is a non-profit arts organization based in Seattle. It promotes social justice causes through storytelling by promoting artists, filmmakers and advocates of South Asian and other intersectional communities. Founded after the targeted violence against South Asian Americans post 911, Tasveer aims to highlight stories and storytelling of underrepresented communities and give visibility and voice to communities of color.

Every year Tasveer hosts TSAFF, the largest South Asian Film Festival in the US with films from South Asian region and South Asian diaspora. It also awards $50,000 annually to independent filmmakers with Tasveer Film Fund. It organizes individual community events ranging from Open Mic nights, Book Reads, scriptwriting workshops, and masterclasses for budding storytellers. It amplifies women’s and queer voices, with 43% women directors in TSAFF and encourages and inculcates political and social activism amongst South Asian youth through Tasveer Youth Collective.
