The Inner Space’s 25-Year Journey: 1991 to Present

The Inner Space has always been a haven for many people who march to the beat of a different drummer. Founded in 1989, but not acquired by Sherry Henderson until 1991; The Inner Space served as a center for metaphysical, human potential and artistic events; including, book signings and classes.  In the beginning, psychics, astrologers, massage therapists, a chiropractor and other holistic practitioners sporadically used the facility to see clients by day --while classes and workshops were held at night.  Within two years of its inception, Sherry Henderson and her then partner, Judy Collins took the reins in 1991. The Curriculum: a weekly meditation program, astrology classes, Tarot and other metaphysical, ongoing courses; along with, a rich variety of events, where artists regularly held shows.   Members of the Atlanta and extended metaphysical community congregated there on a regular basis; it became the social hub for a wide variety of individuals.  Notably; Psychic fairs have been held by The Inner Space every month for the past twenty-five years; yes, this little house was the birthplace of today’s Inner Space Psychic Fair! When the Phoenix and Dragon Bookstore moved away from next door, Sherry’s Husband, John moved his small bookstore from Gwinnett county into the Phoenix and Dragon’s former home.  The center and store continued to flourish and attracted speakers from all over the United States and the world.  Some of the guests in the early days of The Inner Space could indeed be said a “Who’s Who” of the metaphysical and New Age authors and speakers; namely, Dr. Raymond Moody, Gregg Braden, Phil Lout, Sondra Ray, Silver Ravenwolf and a host of others… spoke to sold out, standing room only audiences! By the late 90’s, Sandy Springs was experiencing a growth spurt and the little house was sold along with the property that housed the Hoot Owl Attic Metaphysical bookstore next door.  At which point, John and Sherry Henderson went on to purchase the old Steak and Ale building; being triple in size and overhead.  By that time, the Atlantian Mystery School had been formed and had grown into a mini-university, training professionals in the fields of astrology, hypnotherapy, spiritual healing and metaphysics.  During this transition, John became certified as a hypnotherapist by the National Guild of Hypnotists; a not-for-profit, national, educational corporation with Chapters throughout the country.  The expansion of services created just the right kind of buzz to attract the attention of other well-known personages; such as, Neale Donald Walsh, William Henry, Jami Lin and more.  This growth cycle further enabled the Atlantian Mystery Schools, a non-profit, and 501(c)(3) organization; to spring board its distinct art, science, healing and hypnotherapy program, into an educational and certification platform, which continues to flourish, to this day!   The Results:  Dozens of graduates have become psychics, astrologers, hypnotherapists, and metaphysical store owners; while others study toward self-improvement and metaphysics in general. It should be noted; The Inner Space has produced a newsletter since its inception.  Due to the growth of the publication, it catapulted into a full-fledged magazine with a glossy cover; featuring 56 interior pages. In 2001, the publication was renamed Oracle 20/20 Magazine.  It is currently distributed in five states; is available on the internet as a flip page publication, and is also available on personal mobile devices. At its peak, the magazine distribution was in twelve states –however, when the Great Recession hit, it was no longer feasible for the businesses to continue to occupy such a large facility. The Inner Space, Hoot Owl Attic, Atlantian Mystery Schools and Oracle 20/20 Magazine moved north to Emerald Office Park. When news came that Emerald Office Park would be rezoned and a new residential community was to be built on the site, the businesses relocated again.

The Inner Space is now located in a larger, better suited space which has room for the health and healing fairs, psychic fairs, and smaller classrooms for workshops, and enough room for the Atlantian Mystery Schools certification programs/courses; including the National Guild of Hypnotists certification course and the Dr. Raymond Moody School of Mysticism.  The National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH-GA) Georgia Chapter meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.  John Henderson DD, CI, CT.NLP, Co-Owner of The Inner Space; is president of the Georgia Chapter of the National Guild of Hypnotists. There is a fully equipped kitchen (minus the stove) for raw and living food classes.

Through thick and thin, regardless of the all the transitions from the failing economy to the struggles of relocation, the Oracle 20/20 Magazine currently reaches over 50,000 monthly readers!
