About

The Bea's Knees And The Cat's Whiskers is a newly launched business, based in Worcester, UK. We specialise in designing and producing personalised wall art. The founder and owner, Suzanne Thomas has a background in visual merchandising and display and exhibition design. Using her experience and creative flair, she creates stunning, contemporary works of art. Beautiful art work can be tailored to suit any budget and any occasion and to fit in with your home decor.

Each design is unique. Clients are able to choose all of the words, phrases, names and all other details to be included on their print. Even the typeface and colour schemes are customisable. Unlike other, similar companies, customers receive a totally personal service as the creation and ordering process is not automated. We will contact the customer to discuss exact requirements so that the art will be exactly as requested. A proof is sent to the customer for approval after the initial design stage. Changes can be made and a new proof will be sent. This process will continue until the customer gives approval for the final production print to be made.

High quality materials and skilled craftspeople means a high quality product.
The designs can be produced on either high quality fine card or on a ready to hang wall canvas.

Our card artwork is printed on bright white, coated core gloss card. It conforms to ISO 9706 standards, which means it is classed as a permanent paper. It is low in acid and lignin to reduce the yellowing effect over time and is also more resistant to tearing than standard cards. It has excellent durability and lay flat properties so that it is less likely to bend or warp. We also use this card as it is supremely smooth and therefore, it is better for producing this type of typography artwork because it produces a sharper, more detailed result. If you care properly for your product, it should last in excess of 75 years without any discernible fade!

Unlike similar companies who will offer a mounting service at extra cost, all of our fine card prints are mounted as standard at no extra cost. We never use cheap, ready made mounting boards. We use white core, acid free board. The prints are mounted using archival standard mounting tape and finished with an acid free, conservation standard backing board. Everything is measured and cut by a skilled craftsman, to exactly fit your artwork.

We do however, also offer a bespoke framing service. If you choose this option, your print will arrive mounted as described above and professionally framed, ready to hang. Again, we only use high quality mouldings and never use ready made frames. The mouldings are 30mm deep and 32mm wide on the facing side and are all cut to fit by our framer. The glass is cut to size and the frame it is tightly sealed and finished with hanging eyes and cord.

Our canvas prints are produced using the latest in fine art canvas printing technology, which results in rich, deep and lasting colours. The canvas used is a heavy duty, 350gsm weave - the same standard you would find in a museum or art gallery. Furthermore, a subtle laminate is added to seal the surface of the canvas. This not only serves to give a very high quality finish, but more practically speaking, it makes the prints hard wearing and easier to maintain. You will be able to gently wipe dirt and marks from the surface without jeopardising the integrity of the canvas or the ink. Very few other similar companies in this field offer this sort of finish. Again, if cared for properly, the inks used mean that it will last over 75 years. The canvas is stretched by hand over a 45mm deep profile frame, adding strength and quality. They are less prone to bending or warping in a centrally heated environment than lesser, more flimsy frames.

We try to be as green as possible throughout our production process. We only use FSC certified card so that you can be sure it is from responsible, managed sources. It's production causes less damage to the environment as It is elemental chlorine free. It is produced at a mill that is EMAS registered and holds an ISO 14001 certificate. This means that the mill is committed to continual improvement of it's environmental performance. It is fully biodegradable and recyclable.
Special Konica Minolta Simitri HD proprietary polymerised toner is used during the printing process, which saves energy as it enables considerably lower fusing temperatures. This means that the process minimizes ecological impact. Furthermore, the production of Simitri HD generates around 40% less CO2 emissions than toner produced by conventional pulverisation.
Our mouldings for the frames are made out of a material called polcore. It consists of recycled polystyrene but it is very hard and durable.

The company name of The Bea's Knees And The Cat's Whiskers really does say it all!
