Educating parents as to the importance of paying attention to "how much" a child grows each year is essential. Often parents measure their children on their birthdays or other occassions, but rarely do parents fully understand how vital those scribbles on the wall are to the health monitoring of that child. Serious issues such as brain tumors may first show up by a child's drop in growth, or it may be a simple nutritional issue. There are many factors which influence a childs growth. Parents need to become educated. If this simple information becomes common knowledge, children could be identified early enhancing a greater chance of successful intervention. Height is not a simple cosmetic issue. How much a child is growing each year is a major indicator of that child's overall health.
