The Problem

Women and children continue to make up an alarming percentage of the homeless population.

There are over 7,000 homeless people in San Bernardino County. More than 1,200 of these are homeless women with children living in unsheltered conditions. Many of these women are struggling with issues relating to substance abuse, incarceration, family violence, and mental illness.

The Inland Empire community has little capacity to address the needs of its residents, such as housing, substance abuse treatment, employment opportunities, health care, and counseling. There is a significant gap between the needs of these women and the services available to them.

The Solution

The solution is to address the multi-faceted needs of the homeless women and children in the Inland Empire community. Our program aims to meet these needs by providing housing and re-entry services in an environment that is conducive to establishing a healthy, drug-free, crime free, and positive, independent lifestyle.

Our main objective is to help the women in our program recognize their worth and internally explore the role of personal responsibility in achieving success. Our clients are trained, mentored, coached, and given every opportunity to develop the inner strength and external skills necessary to become independent, positive role models for their children, and leaders in their communities.

We believe that every child deserves a home that is nurturing and supportive. In order for these homeless women to provide for their children we have designed a program which will enable them to become self-sufficient and nurturing parents.
