Ryder Hesjedal became an international hero during the 2010 Tour de France. The world watched for three weeks as Ryder bravely battled the best cyclists in the world in France. Ryder ended up placing 7th overall, an amazing feat. A feat like this hasn’t been achieved by a Canadian cyclist since Steve Bauer finished fourth in the 1988 Tour de France.

Ryder is now the 8th ranked professional cyclist in the world, and he is inviting people to Victoria, British Columbia on May 28th, 2011, to ride on his favourite roads that he uses to train for the Tour de France.

Growing up cycling on the roads and trails of Greater Victoria provided me the skills and solid cycling foundation to achieve 7th in the 2010 Tour de France. I am lending my support to this event because I want people to see just how amazing the cycling is here in Victoria. Cycling is a healthy and environmentally friendly mode of transport. I want to use this event to inspire young and old to discover the joy of cycling! - Ryder Hesjedal
