The 501(c)(4) non-profit organization empowers Texans to fight pollution through sustained grassroots organizing campaigns that shift corporate and governmental environmental policy. Headquartered in Austin, TCE has offices in Dallas and Houston and a presence in all 181 legislative districts in the state. Every year activists from the three offices knock on nearly 500,000 doors to hold face-to-face conversations about public health and environmental issues.

Started as a celebration for TCE’s 20th anniversary, Trash Makeover Challenge is a fashion competition, using 90% recyclable materials. The popular event was created to raise awareness and funds for Zero Waste and recycling issues. Each year, the theme of the fashion show changes, and the collaboration between the fashion community and eco-conscious Texans attracts a SRO crowd..
