Tytherington High School in Macclesfield is affiliated to national charity Career Academies UK to run the Career Academy programme, which provides young people with work-related experiences, including guest speakers, workplace visits and a six-week paid internship.
Career Academies UK was founded in 2002 and is a registered charity. It supports a movement of over 800 employers and 120 schools & colleges, working together to raise the aspirations of 16 to 19-year-olds.
Nearly 90% of Career Academy graduates go on to higher education, or an equivalent level of work-related training, compared with a predicted 40% based on their GCSE performance at the start of the programme.
