About

Ullswater 'Steamers' is an award winning environmental accredited Lake District attraction celebrating over 150 years of operating lake cruises on England's most beautiful lake, Ullswater. Ullswater ‘Steamers’ have been sailing on England’s most beautiful lake since 1859. We have five classic vessels in service: the oldest M.Y. Lady of the Lake built in 1877, is believed to be the oldest working passenger vessel in the world.
Ullswater is unique: its landscape sculpted by three separate glaciers in the last Ice Age with mighty Helvellyn (3,117ft) crowning the southern reach. The valley itself is home to some of England’s rarest wildlife. It is also the place that inspired
William Wordsworth to write his famous poem ‘Daffodils’ after a lakeshore walk in 1807. Download our free commentary app to find out more about us and our ancient myths and legends! Today, the ‘Steamers’ provide the perfect opportunity
to combine a cruise with some of the most famous and spectacular walks in the National Park. Or simply sit back and enjoy the views!
