About

For over ten years, Veterans Yoga Project (VYP) a 501 (C)(3) charitable organization, has made its mission to support recovery and resiliency among veterans, families, and communities. This is achieved through its partnership with VA facilities, veteran centers, service organizations, and universities, throughout the U.S., to provide Mindful Resilience classes. In these sessions, tools are offered as a complement to other forms of treatment for PTS (D) and mental/emotional challenges.

Veterans Yoga Project (VYP) is a collective of veterans, civilians, active-duty and reserve, and family members who recognize the significance of providing support for those who are challenged by the rigors of their military service. VYP’s commitment stems from the mindset that there are too many suicides and that the various adverse circumstances and experiences among the veteran population can destroy the well-being of their family, friends, and community at large.

Veterans Yoga Project aims to restore the very qualities that our Veterans behold: empathy, strength, resilience, and leadership.  Its success in facilitating and sharing tools to foster recovery include mindful movement (yoga), meditation, breathwork, guided rest, and gratitude practices. Through this process, VYP sees its community naturally align with their own values and goals, while mindfully navigating life’s ordinary and extraordinary experiences.

“Veterans Yoga Project exists to help our communities transform trauma into growth,” says VYP Executive Director,  Brianna Renner. “The practices of yoga and mindfulness that we share with countless Veterans and family members enable us to adapt and evolve. The level of resiliency our service members have extended on behalf of our country cannot be matched, so it becomes our responsibility to meet them where they are and to empower them holistically."

VYP also offers a range of both in-person and online Mindful Resilience Trainings for yoga teachers and healthcare professionals in order to facilitate these valuable practice sessions.

All sessions offered, both in-person and online, are free to Veterans.
