West Atco Youth in Action, Inc. is a grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the children and youth of the greater South Jersey area. Since its founding in 1990, WAYIA has remained committed to improving academic performance while instilling strong character and self-esteem in young individuals.

Our mission is to provide high-quality educational programs that engage children in learning, enhance focus, develop self-discipline, build self-respect, and foster respect for others. By integrating structured martial arts training with academic support, we create a foundation for lifelong success.

American Goju Karate West Atco

WAYIA provides American Goju (hard/soft) Karate training Monday through Friday during the school year. Our martial arts program is designed to shape well-rounded individuals by focusing on physical, intellectual, and emotional development. Through this unique training, students gain confidence and acquire valuable life skills that extend beyond the dojo.

Academic Support & Community Impact

At WAYIA, we believe in the power of education to transform lives. Our Achieving Academic Excellence through Martial Arts program has made a significant impact, helping students who once struggled in school consistently earn honor roll recognition. Over 80 percent of our participants pursue higher education after graduating high school, leading to successful and fulfilling futures.

To ensure academic success, we offer:

*After-School Tutoring – Available Monday through Saturday, led by retired teachers, professionals, and peer mentors

*Homework Center & Computer Lab – Providing students with access to academic resources and individualized support

*Progress Monitoring – Students share report cards and progress reports with staff to track and encourage academic improvement

Our Facility

Since June 2002, our program has operated out of the West Atco Learning and Resource Center, a beautifully renovated space generously gifted by the West Atco Fire Department. This facility serves as a hub for learning, training, and mentorship, providing a safe and nurturing environment for students.
