About

Tucked into the mountainside above the coastal village of Scarborough, West Lodge is an intimate, off-grid retreat with uninterrupted views across the Atlantic Ocean. Here, on Cape Town’s scenic southern peninsula, sea air, mountain slopes and wide horizons invite you to slow down and settle into the rhythm of coastal life.

Created over ten years by Russ and Marion Weston, West is a deeply personal expression of their love for this landscape. Its character comes from materials with stories to tell: reclaimed timber, salvaged doors, repurposed stone and carefully restored architectural elements. These materials bring warmth and texture to a home shaped by resourcefulness, patience and respect for its surroundings. Marion’s thoughtfully considered interiors add comfort and individuality, making each space feel welcoming and lived in.

Five en-suite bedrooms offer a restful escape, while a generous open-plan living area provides space to gather, share meals and enjoy the changing ocean views. West is equally suited to quiet moments with a book and unhurried time together with family or friends.

Sustainability is part of everyday life at the lodge. Solar power supports its off-grid independence, rainwater is collected for storage, and the extensive use of reclaimed materials reflects a simple belief: when you borrow from nature, give something back.

Scarborough’s beach, village atmosphere and proximity to the wild landscapes of Table Mountain National Park make West a wonderful base for exploring the peninsula. Discover Cape Point, enjoy coastal walks and cycling, or spend the day close to home watching the Atlantic. Private chefs, surf coaching, yoga, Pilates and guided walks can be arranged to shape your stay around your interests.

Above all, West is a place to feel at ease—close to nature, surrounded by thoughtful details and free to enjoy a slower pace.

Our doors are open and ready to host you.
