About

Zoey Wagoner born in Arizona now living in Arnegard North Dakota is headed to National High School Finals Rodeo as a Freshmen in Poles. Finals are held this year in Rock Springs Wyoming July 14th – 20th. The top 4 in each event from their State go to compete against the most elite competitors from all over the world. This is a highly anticipated event that these kids work hard for all season.

Zoey has been riding horses all her life and trains daily. She has competed 2 times at The Junior High National Finals Rodeo that were held in Georgia. She was All Around Cowgirl last year as an 8th grader and won the State Championship in Barrels and Ribbon Roping and she was Reserve Champion in Poles. This year Zoey as a freshman was The State Champion Pole Bender and Rookie of the Year. Her and her horse Lil Joe are very excited to be heading to Rock Springs to win the World Championship in Pole Bending. If you ask Zoey what she enjoys about North Dakota her response is “I like all the people here. I mean I’ve moved quite a bit. I feel like the people here are just better I guess.”

Zoey wants to go to college to rodeo and further her education in equine science. She also likes to give back to her youth and helps the younger generation with their equines needs. Zoey hopes to make it in all her events next year at Nationals. Zoey’s events are Team Roping, Breakaway Roping, Barrels and Poles.

“I’ve trained all my life for these moments. I have been to nationals before, I know what to expect, I have worked out the nerves and I am feeling great about this year, no matter what happens, I know I have given it my all.” Zoey humbled by the opportunity.
