About

We are a grassroots-focused organization committed to helping communities, businesses, local leaders, and concerned citizens have a meaningful voice in the future of artificial intelligence and technology.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the way we live, work, communicate, and conduct business. Along with these opportunities, however, communities across America and around the world are increasingly facing important questions about the infrastructure required to support the next generation of AI.

The growing development of Mega AI Data Centers has raised concerns in many communities regarding electricity demand, water usage, land requirements, environmental impact, infrastructure capacity, costs, and the long-term effect on residents and local businesses. We believe these concerns deserve to be heard and thoughtfully considered as decisions are being made.

Our purpose is not to oppose technology or artificial intelligence. Quite the opposite. We believe AI can provide tremendous opportunities for communities, entrepreneurs, businesses, governments, and individuals when it is developed responsibly and with the people it is intended to serve in mind.

We believe communities should have access to information about different approaches to AI infrastructure and the opportunity to explore solutions that may be smaller, smarter, more efficient, secure, scalable, and appropriate for their particular needs.

Our grassroots effort is focused on opening the conversation.

We want to bring together residents, businesses, community organizations, technology professionals, economic development leaders, policymakers, and others who want to understand what is possible before major infrastructure decisions are made.

Rather than simply asking communities to accept a one-size-fits-all approach to AI infrastructure, we believe there should be room for discussion, innovation, alternatives, and community participation.

Our mission is to:

• Give communities a stronger voice in conversations surrounding AI infrastructure.

• Encourage open and informed discussion about the benefits, challenges, costs, and impacts of Mega Data Centers.

• Explore alternatives that may reduce pressure on local land, water, energy, and infrastructure resources.

• Connect communities and businesses with innovative technology concepts and potential solutions.

• Encourage responsible AI development that benefits people as well as technology companies.

• Help small and local businesses understand how they may participate in the growing AI economy.

• Promote the idea that AI infrastructure can be distributed, scalable, secure, and designed around the needs of individual communities.

• Create opportunities for communities to ask questions, compare options, and participate in shaping their technological future.

We believe the conversation surrounding AI should not belong exclusively to large corporations, investors, developers, or government agencies. The people who live and work in these communities should have a seat at the table.

This grassroots initiative is about bringing people into that conversation.

We are especially interested in exploring the possibilities of AI Micro Data Centers and other distributed approaches to technology infrastructure. These concepts may provide communities and businesses with additional options for deploying AI capabilities closer to where they are actually needed, while potentially reducing the need for massive centralized infrastructure.

We recognize that there is no single solution for every community. Different cities, states, businesses, and regions have different resources, challenges, priorities, and goals. Our objective is therefore not to tell communities what decision they should make, but to encourage them to understand their options and make informed decisions for themselves.

Technology should serve communities—not simply consume their resources.

We believe the future of AI can be innovative while also being thoughtful, responsible, community-conscious, and accessible.

Through public discussion, media outreach, community engagement, education, and connections with technology innovators, we hope to help create a broader national conversation about how America—and communities around the world—can build the future of AI in a way that works for more people.

Our guiding principle is simple:

AI should empower people, businesses, and communities—not leave them behind.

We invite communities, organizations, businesses, journalists, policymakers, technology professionals, and concerned citizens to join the conversation and help explore what a more community-centered future for AI could look like.
