Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA) was established January 15, 1908 at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and is the first Greek-letter organization established by African-American college women. Driven by its commitment to service and sisterhood, Alpha Kappa Alpha has evolved into one of the world’s leading service organizations with 260,000 members in 958 graduate and undergraduate chapters in the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the Caribbean, Canada, Japan, Germany, South Korea and on the continent of Africa. Its membership includes distinguished women who boast excellent academic records, proven leadership skills, and are involved in the global community through advocacy and service. The South Jersey graduate chapter, Theta Pi Omega Chapter, has more than 200 members, is the largest AKA chapter in New Jersey, and has been proudly serving Burlington, Camden & Gloucester counties since 1967.
