About

Established in 2012, the goal of the Album Cover Hall of Fame is to present in-depth information on the talented people that create interesting and memorable examples of album cover art, design and photography and hope that these presentations kindle an ongoing conversation between album cover art fans like you.

Scholars and fans of “the art of the album cover” have garnered their resources to establish the Album Cover Art Hall of Fame Committee whose goal, through the establishment of this Hall of Fame site, is to recognize the contributions of those who have had a significant impact in the ongoing development and advancement of rock and roll album cover and packaging-related design, illustration and photography by inducting them into this Hall of Fame.

As part of our effort to bring you closer to the people that create great album cover art, our editors are working hard to provide in-depth information on the people – past and present – that earn their living producing great album art: Biographies, portfolios, news headlines and links to relevant sites, blogs and related media.

One of the most-important aspects of the ACHOF site – and one of the reasons we know you’ll want to visit regularly and sign up for our email newsletter – is that we’re going to work hard to keep you up-to-date with newsworthy items about album cover art and design and the people who earn their living (and your respect) creating the impressive packaging for your favorite musical acts.

Our editors will be scouring the globe to find out who is doing what and will work hard to highlight what’s taking place in all major music categories. Be sure to watch our site for late-breaking news and, early each month, a posting that summarizes the previous month’s news items. To broaden our audience, we’ll also be posting these same stories to our Facebook page, so if you either become a Friend or Like us on Facebook, you’ll get this information as it breaks.

Working with writers and journalists who excel in the coverage of this topic, we’ll be posting, on a regular basis, a series of interviews which will give you, the music and art fan, a look at “The Making Of” the illustrations, photographs and designs of many of the most-recognized and influential images that have served to package and promote your all-time-favorite recordings.

In each feature interview, we’ll meet the artists, designers and photographers who produced these works of art and learn what motivated them, what processes they used, how they collaborated (or fought) with the musical acts, their management, their labels, etc. – all of the things that influenced the final product you saw then and still see today.

We hope that fans enjoy these looks behind the scenes of the music-related art business and that they’ll share their stories with us and fellow fans about what role these works of art – and the music they covered – played in their lives.
