Allied Systems Company was founded in 1976 as a fabricator of material han-
dling equipment for the wood products industry. In 1978, Allied acquired its
Marine Crane Division that engineers and manufactures specialized hydraulic
box boom cranes for the military, petroleum and shipping industries. In October
1983, Allied purchased the Wagner product line. The Wagner division engineers
and manufactures specialized mobile equipment for the timber, pulp, steel and
power utility industries. In July of 1990, Allied purchased the Hyster line of
mechanical winches; these are sold for installation on log skidders and crawler
tractors. Product lines have continued to expand through the 1993 acquisition of
the Ranger Skidder line and the 1996 acquisition of the Hanover Forwarder and
Harvester (now known as the Ranger Forwarder and Harvester) as well as the
Heavy Lift Elevating Transporter. The Long Reach line of lift truck attachments
and material handling products was bought in July 2002. The latest addition to
the company was the Freeman line of hay baling and hay handling equipment in
October 2004.
