The World Alpagut Federation (WAF) is an international sports organization established in 2014, governing the Alpagut Turan Martial Art worldwide. Headquartered in Baku, Azerbaijan, WAF operates across 4 continents with 55 country representations.
WAF holds 9 international recognitions and partnerships including TAFISA (The Association For International Sport for All), ICSSPE (International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education), CIFP (International Federation of Pencak Silat), and ISCA (International Sport and Culture Association). The Federation also works toward membership status in WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) and AIMS (Alliance of Independent Recognised Members of Sport), and is expanding cooperation through the SportAccord platform.
ABOUT THE SPORT
Alpagut is a Turkic martial art rooted in ancient warrior traditions, combining philosophical principles with modern competitive sport. Founded by Vasif Namazov in 2014, the discipline has grown into a structured international sport with standardized regulations, ranking systems, and a network of certified coaches and referees.
GOVERNANCE
The Federation is led by its Board of Directors, chaired by Vasif Namazov. The Board oversees regulatory frameworks, international partnerships, athlete protection programs, and the Federation's strategic direction. The current Interim President is Emil Rahimov.
EDITION 2026
On 19 May 2026, the WAF Board of Directors adopted a comprehensive new regulatory framework — Edition 2026 — consisting of 54 official documents across 5 hierarchical levels. The framework covers all areas of Federation activity, from statutes to anti-doping regulations, coach training, athlete protection, national representation, and brand integrity.
