About

Art Over Destruction (AOD) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth through creativity, art education, and cultural storytelling. Founded in Salt Lake City, AOD provides safe, expressive, and inspiring spaces where young people can explore their imagination, build confidence, and develop positive outlets that support healthy emotional growth.

AOD’s mission is rooted in the belief that creativity changes lives. By offering accessible art programs, after-school classes, workshops, and community-based art initiatives, AOD helps young people move away from destructive behaviors and toward meaningful self-expression. Programs are designed to support mental wellness, creative problem-solving, and emotional resilience through hands-on learning.

AOD works with underserved youth, schools, community centers, and local creatives to deliver impactful arts education. The organization teaches drawing, painting, digital creativity, and collaborative art projects — all with a focus on giving young people the tools to express their stories, ideas, and identities.

In 2025, AOD expanded with AOD Media, a youth-centered cultural storytelling division that documents art programs, workshops, and community events through photography, video, and digital media. AOD Media also introduces teens to early training in photography, media production, and documentary storytelling, helping them build real-world creative skills.

AOD’s programs have reached youth both locally and internationally, through collaborations across Utah, the West Coast, and cultural partnerships abroad. These projects support cross-cultural understanding, creative development, and opportunities for young artists to participate in global conversations.

Through a combination of art education, community engagement, cultural media, and youth empowerment, AOD continues to build meaningful pathways that support positive development and creative expression.
