About

Art Sense is an art education program for kids’ age 4 to 18 years old held at the Seventh Sense Art Gallery.  Workshops are being held each 4th weekend of the month, designed to peak the child's interest. Students are given adequate time to learn the skills and complete several projects.  Emphasis is on unique materials –duct tape, wood, and even crushed berries, to provide a real world creative experience.  Returning students expand on skills learned in previous workshops.

The Seventh Sense opened their doors in February of 2011.  Art Sense evolved later that year from the desire of two young working artists, Tamara Becker and Matt Garber, to create a children’s program that actually taught real world art and was fun and interesting.  Although both are in their early twenties they starting working with kids while still in high school and learned what they liked and didn’t like. The feedback received from the parents and the children who have attended make it clear they have found their calling.  Older kids in the classes have been seen passing up pizza so they could get more time to finish a project and the younger ones to be unusually quiet. Snacks and drinks provided along with storytelling and extra activities for littler children.

Seventh Sense is an inclusionary gallery.  A diverse range of styles and genres of art are on display year round giving the young students additional inspiration for their creations.  Kids are encouraged to browse the gallery and touch items to fully experience the art.   Art Sense workshops offer the first half hour free providing parents and kids the opportunity to “test drive” the program.  Classes are limited to 15 students and all activities are instructor led.
