About

Bamboo Dart Press is a collaborative marriage between Pelekinesis and Shrimper Records whose aim is to allow writers and artists to godspeed works into the physical world without the hoops and machinery of manufacturing that slow the process of finished-to-physical work in the world of books and LPs that are the day jobs of the two parent companies.
The initial offerings from Bamboo Dart Press will focus on modestly priced chapbooks that retain the spirit of the DIY spheres that comprise the origins of both Pelekinesis and Shrimper.

The limited edition chapbooks will utilize the independent arms of distribution that both imprints favor (direct sales from Bamboo Dart Press, Grapefruit distribution) as well as larger distributors including Amazon, Ingram, and Revolver USA. Each chapbook will also be available in electronic form through wholesalers like Baker & Taylor and Tolino, library resources including Overdrive and Bibliotheca, and retail outlets like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Apple.

Microfiction, essays, short stories, poetry, graphic arts, biography, and independent voices will all feature prominently in these small books, intended to be twenty to forty pages long (approximately 7,000-10,000 words.) The series will feature a collective/uniform front cover design with the logos for all three arms on the back cover. Each release will be listed for sale on the Bamboo Dart Press website and featured on the Shrimper and Pelekinesis sites. We have also retained a Social Media Coordinator to help spread the word via Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
The authors will retain rights to their work and will receive 20 books at time of publication, with additional copies available at a discounted cost from the publisher.

Mark Givens, owner of Pelekinesis, has published 75 books over the course of a decade. In addition to his literary pursuits, he is a member of the art rock group Wckr Spgt and is the art director for Shrimper Records. Mark has been writing computer code and designing websites for over 20 years and harbors a deep love of layout, design, typography, art, and technology.
Dennis Callaci has issued hundreds of records, tapes, and CDs via his Shrimper label. Callaci’s first book, “100 Cassettes” was released by Pelekinesis in 2020. He is in the band Refrigerator and has three decades of experience issuing independent releases.
Givens and Callaci’s overlapping interests in the world of art, music, and writing—along with their artist-friendly, decades deep experience in the world of publishing and manufacturing—has birthed the idea of Bamboo Dart Press, a silver bullet in the world of arms; small, quick, nimble with no room for bullshit.
