In 1967 our agency incorporated as Big Sisters of Rhode Island with the mission to provide friendship and guidance to at-risk girls. In 2010, we expanded our service to include boys. On July 1, 2011, we changed our name to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State to more accurately reflect the services we provide.
Our Vision: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State envisions a community where all children achieve success in life.
Our Mission: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
Accountability: By partnering with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community we are accountable for each child in our program achieving:
Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships
Avoidance of risk behaviors
