Blackbird Resort is a proud member of PADI (Professional Association of Dive Instructors) offering all PADI training courses, from OpenWater Certification to Divemaster. One of our most popular programs is the PADI Discover Scuba Diving, or Introductory Resort Course. This offers non-divers the truly exciting first-time experience of scuba diving in a safe and beautiful environment.
The Referral Course is favored by many guests who prefer to take the classroom portion of their dive training in their local area before coming to the resort, and then complete the in-the-water portion at the resort. This gives the advantage of leaving you more time to spend diving Belize’s legendary reefs as a certified diver. The water certification portion of the course usually takes only two days. Universal Referral Forms are now accepted.
Divers who haven’t been diving for a while often want to take a brief Refresher Course. One of our resident divemasters will brief you on proper diving safety and procedures and do some simple, shallow dives with you on aone-on-one basis to make sure you remember all of your previous training and build your confidence.
Open Water I Certification is the main course for becoming a diver. It typically lasts four days and consists of about two days of classroom-style learning, covering all aspects of the physics of diving and equipment, plus two days of hands-on learning, becoming acquainted with the scuba gear in the water and doing simple dives.
Open Water II Certification
provides advanced open water learning to further your diving skills, enjoyment and safety. This is a recommended, but strictly optional course and is typically taken after 20 or more dives, giving you time to become totally comfortable underwater on routine dives.
PADI Enriched Air Diver Course is a specialty scuba diving course. Scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you increased no decompression dive time. This means more time underwater, especially on repetitive scuba dives. To qualify, you must be 15 years or older and have a PADI Open Water certification, or qualifying certification from another organization.
Please note you must be a certified advance diver to dive the Blue Hole or any sites that are deeper than 60 ft. Our resort offers advanced training for those who would like to become certified prior to taking part in the deeper dives.
