Kelley Park, located in northwest Detroit in the St. Mary's/McCrary neighborhood, was dedicated to the memory of PFC David P. Kelley Jr., a neighborhood young man who lost his life during World War II. He attended St. Mary’s of Redford and then Catholic Central for High School. He enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1943. He received a Purple Heart for wounds received in battle in 1944. David was killed in action in Germany in March 1945.

​The Brothers of Kelly Park (B.O.K.), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization adopted Kelley Park in 2021 via the Adopt-A-Park Stewardship Program in partnership with the City of Detroit and the Detroit Parks Coalition to beautify and activate Kelley Park.

Kelley Park is a 4.5 acre neighborhood park in northwest Detroit. The newly renovated park now features a full basketball court and a half basketball court, a multi-purpose field, a walking trail, an outdoor fitness area with fitness equipment, a playground, a picnic shelter and picnic areas. The last phase of renovations will include a dog park.

​The City of Detroit Parks and Recreation Division received approximately $400,00 in funding for improvements at Kelley Park.

The Brothers of Kelly Park will be celebrating the grand opening of Kelley Park by hosting a ribbon cutting and branding celebration, Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 10am to 6pm. Please join B.O.K. and other community stakeholders are they provide a tour of the improvements made to the park and provide the rich history that this park holds.
