About

The Cane Corso ("KAH-neh COR-soh") dog is an ancient Italian molosser and its name derives from the Latin "cohors" that means guardian, protector. It has an athletic build and a solid, compact body with free-flowing movement. The combination of its stable character, the absolute devotion to its master and its adaptability to the environment are the reasons of the breed's popularity and success. Historically, the dog was used to guard property and cattle, to hunt large game and the protection of the family. It is a gentle, sociable dog and easily trained to perform the duties for which it has been bred. Although the Cane Corso breed has worldwide FCI recognition, it is currently only in the AKC Miscellaneous Class in the USA.
