About

Capitol Markets is a financial-transparency platform and newsroom that tracks every stock trade disclosed by U.S. members of Congress and executive-branch officials, including the President and Cabinet.

Members of Congress disclose their trades under the STOCK Act, and senior executive-branch officials file OGE Form 278-T. Those filings are public but scattered across three government systems, and many arrive as scanned paper. Capitol Markets checks the U.S. House Clerk every ten minutes, along with the Senate's electronic disclosure system and the Office of Government Ethics, and alerts subscribers by email, Telegram, push notification or webhook as soon as a new filing is verified.

The platform holds more than 53,000 disclosed trades from 276 officials back to 2015, including nearly 9,000 executive-branch trades, alongside 17,160 bills and 10,938 roll-call votes for legislative context. Every official is scored against the S&P 500 and ranked on a public leaderboard, and trades in industries a member's own committee oversees are flagged and dated. Scanned filings are read twice, independently, before anything is published.

Capitol Markets is free to read, with a free weekly email digest. Same-day filing alerts and watchlists are available with Capitol Markets Pro. All data comes from public records. Capitol Markets does not provide investment advice.
