Casa Magu is an LGBTQ-owned boutique hotel in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, created by hospitality professionals Mario Monte and René Silva. The property combines thoughtful Mexican-inspired design, local craftsmanship, comfort, and genuine human connection. Guests stay in individually designed suites surrounded by lush gardens and a swimming pool, with daily continental breakfast and attentive hospitality from the owners.

Design and craftsmanship are central to the Casa Magu experience. Co-owner René Silva, a fashion designer, brings a deep appreciation for Mexican textiles, materials, and traditional artisan techniques to the property. Throughout Casa Magu, guests encounter handcrafted furnishings, textiles, ceramics, decorative objects, and other details sourced from artisans in Yucatán and across Mexico.

For Casa Magu, these pieces are more than decoration. They represent the creativity, cultural knowledge, and generations of craftsmanship that make Mexico distinctive. The property was created as a place where travelers can experience that sense of place through their surroundings while also discovering Mérida through personal recommendations and genuine interaction with their hosts.

Co-owner Mario Monte brings more than 15 years of experience in culinary leadership, hospitality operations, and food and beverage development, including experience building hospitality programs and managing multi-location restaurant operations. His culinary background is reflected in Casa Magu's approach to breakfast, service, and its evolving plans for culinary and cultural experiences.

Together, Mario and René have created Casa Magu around a simple philosophy: hospitality should feel personal. Rather than functioning as a conventional hotel, Casa Magu is designed to feel like a private retreat where guests can slow down, connect with their surroundings, and experience Mérida at their own pace.

The new Casa Magu features five suites, including four king suites and the spacious Tobalá Grand Suite, which can accommodate up to four guests. Shared spaces include a lush garden, swimming pool, indoor and outdoor gathering areas, and spaces designed for guests to relax and enjoy the tropical Mérida climate.

Casa Magu's location near La Ermita offers a balance between tranquility and access to Mérida's historic center. Guests can explore the city's architecture, markets, restaurants, galleries, cultural attractions, and neighborhoods while returning to a quieter residential setting.
