About

Hi there! We are Josh and Deb Jones, the owners of City Scape Winery here in Greenville South Carolina. You are probably wondering how we came to be the youngest winery owners in the southeast. Here is our story:

It all started on a cold, rainy day in the fall of 2009. Stuck inside on the couch with nothing interesting to do, we started to be plagued with a condition that we loathe most in life called “boredom.” We decided to confront the issue head on and started to think of some creative things to do.

Our minds went to the thought of making beer as we knew plenty of our other friends did this. Even though we do enjoy beer on a hot day, we didn’t want to be like everyone else. Then we thought “how about wine?” The moment we had this thought, we knew it was meant to be. Being raised near the Finger Lakes wine region in New York, we both really grew to have a passion for wine over the years. So, naturally we turned to YouTube for tutorials on the winemaking process to ensure that we were ready to commit to this process. After doing our research we decided that we were ready to take the plunge! We were delighted to find that there was a local winery and winemaking supply store near our home in Greenville, South Carolina. We pulled up to “City Scape Winery” and were greeted by owners Wayne and Anita Tamme who were sweet, charming and knowledgeable. Hours later, we walked out with the proper wine making supplies and our first wine making kit. Little did we know that this action would change our lives.

Six years later our little hobby has turned into more of a lifestyle. We have made dozens of wine varietals in many different styles and methods. In 2012 we made ten different types of wine for our wedding (125 bottles). With it being a big hit, we decided to make even more, even converting one of our guest rooms into a makeshift wine cellar, complete with floor to ceiling wine racks and separate HVAC.

Over the years we have traveled to Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and Willamette Valley, as well as, Spain, Portugal and Italy just to learn more about our craft. When normal people listen to music… we listen to winery podcasts. You get the point…it’s clearly an obsession. When the previous owners, Wayne and Anita Tamme, asked us to consider taking on the winery in late 2015 we knew that it was what we were meant to do. We could pursue our passion for wine on a larger scale and grow an incredible community around it at the same time. A win-win.

We wish to continue to grow City Scape Winery into a place not only known for their handcrafted wines but also as a place for community. So come to the winery and experience for yourself what we are all about!

Cheers,

Josh & Deb
