About

The Country Club of Columbus was established in 1909 by a number of local citizens who shared a fondness for golf. These founders wisely engaged the design services of Donald Ross, arguably golf’s foremost architect. Ross designed a spectacular course calling for long, accurate tee shots, accurate iron play, precise handling of the short game and consistent putting. The course features a 6515 yard par 71 layout. Its distinguishing feature is its small TifEagle greens, protected by many strategically placed bunkers. In 1909 the Country Club of Columbus also began entertaining the members and residents of Columbus. Columbus’s news paper of the time, the Enquirer-Sun, ran articles of how the CCC impacted the social atmosphere of the town. Columbus even had a trolley stop right to the club. In 1920 the Commandant at Camp Benning, along with his top Captains, helped christen the CCC’s new clubhouse after the first was burned to the ground.

The colonial clubhouse has received two major facelifts since its rebirth. The club’s most famous backdrop is its legendary Donald Ross golf course. The CCC is home to the prestigious Fred Haskins Award (or the Heisman of golf) and the Southeastern Amateur Golf Championship.

The CCC tennis facility also has amazing views from its observation deck that gracefully watches over eleven rubico clay courts. The Country Club of Columbus is well recognized for its outstanding Tennis facility and programs. Featuring (11) courts – ten Rubico and one all-weather court – there is always plenty of availability for court time. With all courts lighted for night play and no reservations necessary, the Club makes it a breeze to play as much tennis as you and your family desire! Our gorgeous Tennis Clubhouse features a top-of-the-line Pro Shop, beautiful Locker Room facilities, a bright, inviting Players’ Lounge, and an expansive Viewing Deck overlooking the courts.
