David Kagen's acting classes are not rigidly attached to one acting technique. Los Angeles actors need much more.
"We mix it up. We're interested in helping each of our acting students to learn how to do their own best work and to find what works best for them. Then, we help them do their best acting work, under the real pressure of the acting business in Hollywood."
The core philosophy is,
As Sanford Meisner said, 'Your talent comes from your instincts.' You must train yourself to be emotionally free and to bare your soul (self-betray); reveal your most private, innermost, feelings when you act. That's what moves you and what you demand from the actors you love when you go to the movies. Since that's what you demand from other actors, you must be able to do that, too, when you act."
Although students study in classes (as well as privately) at Kagen's LA Acting School, all classes are kept small so that each student actually experiences private coaching within a class environment. This is part of their secret formula and how we differ from other LA acting schools.
David Kagen's Film Acting School offers beginner, intermediate, advanced and professional level acting classes. Although no one can learn acting in a few weeks or months, this film acting school also offers intensives for those actors who currently live outside of Los Angeles or who need to fit their actor training into a short time period. Unlike many LA Acting Schools , David Kagen's students work twice every session, while filmed on their own DVD's, which they take home with them from each of their acting classes. Los Angeles acting classes often don't do that. "It's one thing for an acting teacher to tell an actor what we see. But, when you see it for yourself, it makes things very clear, very quickly!"
