About

Discovery Energy Utility Audits (deaudits.com) is an independent, contingency-based utility bill audit and Utility Cost Intelligence firm for multi-site commercial and industrial organizations across the US and Canada. It was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in South Jordan, Utah.

Discovery audits electricity and natural gas bills against the tariffs that should govern them. It checks each account's rate class, meter multiplier, demand charges, riders and corporate classification, then files claims with the utility to recover overcharges and moves accounts onto the correct rates. Audits typically review 36 to 48 months of billing history. Recoveries have most often equaled 3% to 15% of annual utility spend.

There is no upfront fee. Discovery is paid a contingency fee, usually 15% to 50% of refunds and verified savings, and only after the client receives them. A 15-account pilot audit is available.

Beyond audits, Discovery provides competitive electricity and natural gas procurement in deregulated markets, aggregate utility bill pay with GL coding for every utility type, TaraBase reporting dashboards for savings, usage, contracts and Scope 1 and 2 data, and renewable energy advisory covering RECs, PPAs and on-site solar.

Clients include manufacturers, chemical distributors, food and protein processors, agribusinesses, steel and metals producers, renewable natural gas producers, cold storage and logistics operators, and private equity portfolio companies, with portfolios ranging from about 10 to more than 1,000 utility accounts. Published results include $3,959,202 recovered for a multi-state RNG producer and $374,326 for a national steel company that already had an energy manager.

Discovery is a member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE). It is not affiliated with Discovery Energy Corp. (OTC: DENR), an unrelated oil and gas company.
