Who is CitySync?
CitySync was formed in the late 1990’s specifically to develop innovative solutions in the field of ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) and offers technology solutions for traffic, parking, security and law enforcement.
CitySync offers a range of hardware options to suit user needs and preferences, each compatible with the in-house developed software solutions for recognition and application. Different uses of CitySync’s ranges include traffic monitoring, premise security, detection and crime prevention, parking control, congestion reduction plus many more. Manufacturing of the hardware is all outsourced.
CitySync does not sell its products directly to end users, but works closely with its approved and system integrators, OEMs and distributors.  CitySync supports all partners through agreeing system specifications with end-users, assistance with tenders, site surveys and expert user training to ensure delivery to the highest professional standards in the industry

What is ANPR?
ANPR stands for Automatic Number Plate Recognition (LPR – License Plate Recognition in USA.)

How is ANPR used?
An Automatic Number Plate Recognition System firstly locates a number plate on a vehicle and then reads and interprets the plate. The system can create a log of vehicle movements with date, time and location.
Systems can not only read a plate but, having interpreted it, the software can then look up the plate in a database and display information about the vehicle or driver on the operator’s screen.

What are the uses for ANPR?
Security:
Increasing demands for security and the risk of terrorist activity mean that close monitoring and immediate detection of security threats are a fundamental requirement. In high risk areas such as airports, financial districts and government sites, real time data needs to be captured and acted upon before risk becomes reality. CitySync systems can read license plates, open barriers, sound local or remote alarms and even output specific messages via LED signs, pagers, SMS or email. Checks can be made against a database of known criminal vehicles so that appropriate action can be taken. ANPR can be used as an enhancement to site security on industrial and retail parks, airports, ports and homeland security.

Law Enforcement:
The main use for law enforcement is to match ANPR against intelligence databases. ANPR can be used to monitor criminal movement, detect illegal vehicles (stolen, untaxed etc). For law enforcement ANPR can also be an essential tool for evidence building.

Parking:
Parking is a huge revenue stream for many businesses and ANPR can be implemented to make sure that parked cars adhere to established parking and payment terms. Local councils and parking establishments can benefit from CitySync’s cutting edge technology by controlling parking security through admittance of authorized vehicles only, and can even provide details of the driver of each vehicle.

Traffic:
With traffic levels rising and billions of cars using Britain’s roads each day, monitoring traffic and implementing measures to control and reduce congestion has become a key issue. ANPR can be used to control congestion by, for example, only allowing certain cars to travel on certain days (odd number plates one day and even plates the next as introduced in Milan) or by controlling congestion charging. ANPR can also aid the road user by giving information on traffic congestion and queuing times.
