Escondido, CA – December 2007 -- The Escondido Christian Center commissioned Sommerset Creative and Sign-a-rama of Escondido to recreate a street scene in a turn of the century style for their Holiday Event.
The street scene consisted of 9 facades depicting different commercial establishments. Behind each façade, there was an activity for the visitors, such as kettle corn, an eatery, a storyteller, free children’s bracelets and a train station. Visitors were also able to ride a train to visit different stations depicting live biblical scenes.
Sommerset Creative illustrated each one of the facades as well as the train and people mover. Sign-a-rama of Escondido printed all the facades onto corroplast on their recently acquired flatbed printer and church volunteers worked hard putting the facades together onto custom-built frames.
“This was a great opportunity for Sommerset Creative to give back to the community and it’s amazing to be able to experience first hand how the community is enjoying what we have done with the illustrations.” Said Doris, from Sommerset Creative.
The event was attended by local authorities who were truly amazed at the quality of the event. The Mayor of Escondido, Ms. Lori Holt Pfeiler, visited the event and stated that she could not remember such a marvelous event in Escondido’s history.
Pastor Joel Phillips, senior pastor at the ECC, hopes that this event will grow each year and said “This event went way beyond what anyone expected.”
