About

El Centro de Corazón was founded in 1994 in Houston's impoverished East End community as a social service organization with an initial focus on early childhood development. Over the years, El Centro expanded its focus to include the overall health of residents of the East End and the greater Houston area.  Today, El Centro is a designated Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with three health centers that offer pediatric and adult primary care, women’s health services, pediatric and adult dental care, and behavioral health services.  El Centro is also providing primary care services in The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD’s Southeast outpatient facility.  Additionally, El Centro is recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a Patient Centered Medical Home - Level 1 at its John S. Dunn Health Center.

The mission of El Centro de Corazón is to promote the individual, community, and social health of the East End and the greater Houston area.

El Centro is at the heart of making the East End a healthy community, through quality care that reaches the entire family, treating the whole person through prenatal, adult and pediatric primary care, dental, and mental health services.
