Metals, Motorcycles and Mayhem

The Elena Ab Gallery at 185 Church Street in Tribeca  presents a retrospective show spanning three decades of Linus Coraggio's abstract  and representational sculpture.

Coraggio is a NYC native artist and one of the original pioneers of the early 1980's street art movement (credited in Art in America with inventing a genre of street art called 3-D graffiti).  The Elena Ab Gallery is in its second year and featured other artist's including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Ken Hiratsuka and Wassily Kandinski. Coraggio has been an invited artist for projects in Japan, Scandinavia and Europe.  Coraggio also founded the 'Rivington School' and 'Space 2B aka 'The gas station' (both seminal downtown epicenters of art activity and sprawling sculptural installation in the 80's and 90's). Also on display will be his paintings, woodcut prints and sculptural furniture.

The show opens on 5/15/15 (6pm-9pm opening) and runs until 6/30/15. Gallery hours are Mon., 1-4 pm and Tues. to Sunday, 12-8pm and by appointment by calling (917) 691-5647.
