About

The Endangered Alphabets Project (endangeredalphabets.com) is a nonprofit based in Vermont, USA. Its mission is to preserve and revitalize endangered cultures by researching and cataloging their indigenous writing systems and creating awareness and appreciation of them through talks, exhibitions, educational materials, games, and artwork. We launched the first ever World Endangered Writing Day on Jan. 23, 2024 to bring awareness to the hundreds of indigenous scripts and writing systems that are on the verge of extinction, and the loss of culture, history, knowledge, and connection represented by their loss.
