Our mission in the immediate term is to help western media companies to analyse and to realise their investment ambitions in India and for Indian media companies to expand their businesses globally.

Peter Phippen, Founding Partner

eter has spent nearly 30 years in the media industry, holding board positions in the UK, USA, India and Australia. For many years he was a Board Director of BBC Worldwide Ltd, for whom he developed and ran BBC Magazines; he was also President and CEO of BBC Worldwide Americas Inc, launching the TV channel BBC America and chairing a joint venture with Discovery Inc.
For 7 years Peter Chaired a j/v media company based in Mumbai. Born in India and a life-long ‘Indiaphile’, in 2011 Peter founded East West Relations Ltd. to help western media companies identify and secure opportunities in India.

Andrew Mendoza, Founding Partner

Andrew has worked across most media industry sectors in his consulting career of over 20+ years, the last 10 of which were as a partner in the Strategy Practice of Accenture and OC&C Strategy Consultants. Andrew has been working with clients in India or looking to enter the market for nearly 20 years, including most recently TV production, niche B2B information services, magazine supply chain and digital.
Andrew's wife and family are from Mumbai.

Ray Edun, Commercial Director

Ray Edun originally hails from Toronto, Canada and spent the first part of his career in the high tech industry. Building a multi-million dollar retail computer business for Canada’s largest computer distributor, clients included the likes of Staples, Radio Shack (Tandy) and other large North American retailers.
Most recently Ray worked on internal communications research and strategy in an advisory capacity to large blue chip companies including Pfizer, Unilever, Coca-Cola Enterprises. Ray brings 20+ years of sales, marketing and client management experience to East West joining in January 2013 as Commercial Director. Ray will liaise with clients in the media sector wishing to research and enter the fast growing Indian market.

The Indian Media Sector is booming:

Of the urban population, 91% watch TV every day and 77% read a newspaper every day. 22% access the internet on their mobiles. 25% are involved in social networks. There are now 745 TV channels. This is an industry with a current value of US $14bn.
Advertising revenue - currently US $5bn has grown in double figures almost every year for the past decade – up 18% in 2010.
