Sitting in South Lee, a mile outside of Stockbridge, The Federal House Inn bed and breakfast  is nestled in an ideal location with views of Beartown Mountain and Yale Hill.  We’re centrally located to numerous southern Berkshire attractions including Tanglewood, the Appalachian Trail, and Butternut Ski Resort.

It was built in 1824 by Thomas O. Hurlbut who built this gracious brick beauty with gorgeous wood floors and large windows that invite you to admire the scenery of the surrounding lawns. Located in the heart of the Berkshires, The Federal House Inn also has a handsome living room and a special breakfast room where you can peacefully enjoy your morning meal. All rooms are lavishly decorated with beautiful antiques that only add to the old colonial manor feel. The Inn is strategically located in an area with lots of historical and cultural events, making your experience at the Federal House one of entertainment and delight.

After 35 rewarding years in education, both in the United States and in four countries overseas, Kolleen and Brian Weinrich are thrilled to be running an established and successful inn.  They bring to the inn their diverse backgrounds and exposure to a variety of countries and cultures. They provide the warm hospitality and welcoming experience guests have come to expect when staying at the Federal House.

Begin your day with a delicious, candlelight, three-course breakfast by the fire in the charming Federal House Berkshires Bed and Breakfast Inn dining room complete with the original wide board pine flooring. Relax on the lawn under the stately copper beech tree. Enjoy an evening glass of wine in the charming living room. Complete your day with brandy and chocolates back at the inn, or a coffee freshly brewed in the guest pantry. Relax in front of your own fireplace [gas or electric] in your “home away from home.”

Upon arrival your every need will be attended to as you thoroughly enjoy your comfortable room and private bath. At 5PM each day guests gather in the beautifully furnished living room sharing wine and discussing the many wonderful area restaurants choices in preparation for dinner. Wonderful people stay at the Federal House Inn and many new friends are made here. When you return in the evening coffee, hot tea or hot chocolate are always available in our ‘guest’ pantry for you to enjoy in our living room, one of our ‘reading nooks’ or your cozy room.

You will be served a delicious three course candlelight breakfast which includes fresh juice, coffee (grown in India and prepared by a local producer), a fresh fruit course and a gourmet hot entrée.
