Flooding from excessive overland stormwater flow, which cannot be captured in the underground stormwater network, impacts the community by damaging public and private assets, such as buildings, infrastructure and motor vehicles.  This impact is measureable not only financially but also socially.

The HFCS design is an impedance barrier that activates automatically during extreme storm events. The flood barrier activates and retracts below surface level automatically based on hydrostatic profiles.

This automated function without the need for human intervention, triggers to rise and fall into place without the need for electrical power to operate, resulting in limited impediment to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
