Located in Griffintown Montreal, Gallery Abyss is a Contemporary art gallery dedicated to low brow and cutting edge underground art. Founded in April 2014 by Abdala Kaufmann, Painter and Tattooist she had a vision for a creative space for her to exhibit art in a gallery setting, and work as a professional tattoo artist. A place where she had full control over the artistic directions she wished to pursue. “I found it difficult to exhibit my work in Montreal Galleries, I was limited to festivals and events since my criteria’s did not always meet the galleries mission. I also wanted to offer the same opportunities to other artists who have unique visions and deserve to be celebrated”. Gallery Abyss holds monthly group exhibitions with a mix of emerging and established artists. We focus on the Genres Lowbrow, Surrealism, Underground and the New Figurative curated by Abdala and guest curators.
