About

I’m Brendan, founder of Geeks Cheaper (previously The Cheaper Geek), established in 2007. My goal was to offer superior, cost-effective tech services that big brands and retailers seemed to overlook in their zeal to, well, sell more computers. With formal education in computer repair and web design, I jumped into the industry early in adulthood but was disappointed with its tendency to leave issues unresolved, leading people to incessantly upgrade or replace PCs.

Fast forward to 2023, and despite the efforts of myself and the honest geeks out there doing their best to control it, the situation, unfortunately, has worsened. Innovations in silicon technology approach their nano-scale limit, and amidst inflation, supply issues, and chip shortages, we no longer see the once-anticipated price-per-performance growth. Devices today are inundated with bloatware, unnecessary notifications, and endless updates, making a new computer potentially slower for its price than ones from years past. Educating the public is vital to prevent them from being exploited by major tech corporations.
