Centennial Campus a research park and campus located at NC State University. With nearly 60 corporate, governmental and non-profit institutions located on the property and 75 NC State research centers, institutes and departmental units, Centennial has become a major hub of research activity associated with smart grid energy and alternative technologies, biotechnology and life sciences, materials science, veterinary medicine, nanotechnology and environmental science. The 1,314-acre research park also contains residential housing, a 600-student middle school, public lake and walkways, and an 18-hole public, championship golf course. Currently under construction is the Centennial Science Center, a 72,000-square foot, Class “A” laboratory and office space building that will house the FREEDM Center, the nation’s only NSF-funded research center dedicated to the integration of the current electric grid system with alternative technologies. Also located on Centennial is the state-of-the art James B. Hunt, Jr. Library.
