About

French Holidays Aude is the business name for 'Le Moulin de l'Argentouire' a former watermill that offers self catering accommodation for up to 9 people in the beautiful French countryside.

It was more than 300 years in the making and resides in the 'Pays de Cathare' region close to Castelnaudary, the Canal du Midi and the fabulous city of Carcassonne.  Both the Canal du Midi and Carcassonne's 'La Cite', an amazing walled city, are UNESCO world heritage sites and are the focus of the tourist industry in this area.

Carcassonne was at the center of the Albigensian Crusade against the Cathars and is steeped in history. There are many Cathar Fortresses located all around Carcassonne and a number of beautiful medieval cities where visitors can immerse themselves in the culture of the South of France.

Tourists can visit famous wine producing regions such as Corbieres,  Minervois, Fitou and many more located in the Languedoc. They collectively represent the largest wine producing area of both France and the world.

Languedoc Roussillon has many places of outstanding natural beauty. These can be found by visiting the immediate areas surrounding 'Le Moulin' and the nearby 'Montagne Noire' or by going a little further afield to the Mediterranean coastline or the Pyrenees Mountains.

There is much to see and do. Visitors can make the most of the inland lakes, the architecture of the cities and by experiencing the specialty food or wine of the area. There are also plenty of opportunities for engaging in sports and leisure activities or just discovering the amazing historical past of the region.
