About

Hope for the Hungry is a nonprofit charity established in 1982.  As an organization, we support schools, orphanages, and missionaries across the globe. Hope for the Hungry is an interdenominational ministry focusing on assisting children worldwide, and serving missionaries who have responded to God’s call to “Share the Bread of Life with a Starving World.” Hope for the Hungry was founded in 1982 by Dan and Kandy Kirkley as a result of Christ’s command to “Feed My Sheep.”

In our 30 years of existence, we have established work in 17 different countries in an effort to relieve the spiritual and physical poverty of the poorest of the poor across the globe. On average, 21,000 children die daily due to malnutrition and preventable diseases and 2.7 billion people live on less than $2 dollars per day making food, water, shelter and education an extreme difficulty.  Not only do we serve internationally, but we are very active locally through a weekly local outreach program and monthly outreach events to the children in low income housing areas in Belton, TX.

Our passion and our goal is to “Share the Bread of Life with a Starving World”.  This means that we work diligently to give people the spiritual, physical, and educational foundation they need to produce sustainable efforts to begin the process of removing themselves and their families from generational poverty.  While we believe that meeting the physical and educational needs is vital, we believe that a relationship with Jesus Christ is of ultimate importance. We firmly stand on the principle that without the saving work of  Jesus changing a person’s life internally, our external efforts to help them will be in vain.
