House of Thyme is an independent mold inspection and indoor environmental testing company based in Austin, Texas. We specialize in working with homeowners and health-focused clients who are trying to uncover the root cause of ongoing or unexplained health symptoms.

Our work is often part of a larger health investigation led by functional and integrative medicine practitioners. In many cases, a doctor has already identified mold exposure through blood or urine testing. We then assess the home environment to determine whether it is contributing to that exposure. This includes identifying if the types of mold present in the home align with what has been found in the body, and more importantly, locating the source of the problem.

We focus exclusively on inspection and testing. We do not perform remediation, which removes the conflict of interest commonly seen in the industry. Our role is to provide clear, objective data so that homeowners and their healthcare providers can make informed decisions.

Our inspections go far beyond a basic walkthrough. We use a combination of air sampling, surface sampling, and dust testing methods such as ERMI or HERTSMI-2 when appropriate. We also incorporate moisture mapping and infrared thermal imaging to detect hidden water intrusion and conditions that allow mold to grow behind walls, in ceilings, and within HVAC systems.

We place strong emphasis on collecting the right type and quantity of data. Many standard inspections rely on limited sampling or visual observations, which can miss underlying issues. Our process is designed to produce a comprehensive understanding of the indoor environment, especially in cases where health concerns are involved.

Each client receives a detailed, easy-to-understand report that connects all findings into a clear narrative. We outline what was discovered, how it may relate to the client’s situation, and what next steps should be considered. When needed, we can coordinate with trusted third-party remediation professionals, while remaining fully independent.
